Former AU track and field standout Kurt Roberts finished second in the shot put on Wednesday (June 25) at the United States Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif.
Wednesday was the first day of competition at the Championships. AU strength and conditioning coach A.G. Kruger will compete in the hammer on Thursday.
Roberts won the silver medal with a throw of 70-5.25. That's a personal best. Roberts led the field for much of the day. However, late in the competition, Joe Kovacs unleashed a throw of 72-3.50 to finish first.
Reese Hoffa was third with a mark of 68-2.25.
