Johnson, Kruger Go One-Two In Hammer

Former AU thrower Kibwe Johnson won the championship in the hammer throw on Thursday (June 26) at the U.S. Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif.

AU strength and conditioning coach A.G. Kruger was second.

Johnson won the gold medal with a mark of 243-4. Kruger was next at 240-7.

Former Ashland thrower Ryan Loughney was eighth. He claimed that spot at 227-0.

AU's Drew Windle was fourth in the preliminaries of the 800 meters. Windle's time was 1:47.37 and that qualifies him for the semifinals. Duane Solomon turned in the best time on Thursday. He crossed the finish line in 1:47.19.
