Eagles Off To Strong Start At Kent State

Ashland University's indoor track and field teams began their 2014-15 season with a pair of first-place showings at Day 1 of the Golden Flash Gala Friday (Dec. 5) at Kent State.

Senior Shatora Lewis, a transfer from Michigan State, finished first in the women's weight throw (63-feet-7). Fellow senior Kim Habegger placed second (60-feet-10), and sophomore Megan Tomei finished fourth (56-feet-3¼).

In the men's weight throw, senior Jared Conklin took the title with a showing of 70-feet-3. Senior Zac Ball was third (66-feet-10½).

Sophomore Jamie Hence took fifth in the men's long jump (20-feet-2½), and freshman Hannah Bartlome was fifth in the women's long jump (17-feet-6¾).

The Eagles will compete in Day 2 of the Gala on Saturday (Dec. 6).
