Ashland University senior Drew Windle is this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week.
Windle, the two-time USTFCCCA Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year and two-time national champion in the indoor 800-meter run, now has the fastest Division II time in that event this season (1:48.41) after his effort on Jan. 30 at the Penn State National meet. Windle was second overall in the event at PSU, and also was part of the Eagle 4x400-meter relay and distance medley relay teams which both ended the meet with provisional nationals-qualifying times.
Ashland's nationally-ranked indoor track and field teams (women second, men third) will be back in action at the Akron Blue/Gold meet on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 6-7).
