Eighty-nine Ashland University winter student-athletes earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference academic honors, as the conference's All-Academic and All-Academic Excellence lists were released Friday (Feb. 20).
Forty-two Eagles earned a place on the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence teams (cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or better), while 47 Ashland student-athletes qualified for a spot on the GLIAC All-Academic teams (cumulative GPA of 3.0-3.49).
Of the 42 Ashland All-Academic Excellence student-athletes, more than half (23) came from the women's indoor track and field team. The men's indoor track and field team led the winter sports in All-Academic selections with 17.
The GLIAC as a whole had a total of 766 student-athletes achieve all-academic recognition, with 381 on the All-Academic Team and 385 on the All-Excellence list. Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the start of the season, not a freshman or a first-year transfer student.
