17 Eagles Earn USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

Nine Ashland University women and eight Eagle men earned All-Midwest Region honors on Monday (March 2) from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The top five individuals in each event from each region earned the all-region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions' top three relay teams.

On the women's side, seniors Jennifer Bjelac (long jump and pentathlon), Jessica Bridenthal (shot put and weight throw) and Shatora Lewis (shot put and weight throw) all earned all-regional citations in two events. Senior Jennifer Foster (high jump), senior Kim Habegger (weight throw), sophomore Rebecca Koval (high jump), junior Jamie Sindelar (shot put), freshman Irene Skinner (400-meter run) and sophomore Megan Tomei (shot put) all earned all-region recognition, as well.

Senior Elijha Owens led Eagle men's honorees with three all-region selections in the 400-meter run, 60-meter hurdles and the distance medley relay. Senior Drew Windle (800-meter run and DMR) and junior Nick Hall (mile run and DMR) each earned two all-region citations, and earning one each were seniors Zac Ball (weight throw), Waquiem Comar (60-meter hurdles), Jared Conklin (weight throw), Joshua Davis (DMR) and Eric Thompkins (60-meter dash).

Ashland's indoor track and field teams, both ranked No. 1 in Division II, will have qualifiers competing in the NCAA Division II Championships, March 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala.
