Eagle Track And Field Concludes Myrtle Beach Trip

Freshman Haley Gregory took the title in the women's 200-meter dash in the third and final day of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Saturday (March 21).

Gregory crossed the finish line in 26.15 seconds. Sophomore Shelby Jordan was fourth in the 200 dash in 26.34.

Eagles took three of the top seven spots in the men's long jump. Sophomore Damani Barnes was second (21-feet-2½), sophomore Jamie Hence was fifth (20-feet-7¼) and junior Max Ertle took seventh (19-feet-6¾).

Barnes also placed fourth in the men's high jump (6-feet-2).

Senior Elijha Owens turned in a third-place finish in the men's 110-meter hurdles (14.21), good for a 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships provisional mark.

The men's 400-meter relay team of junior Brandon Freeman, Owens, senior Eric Thompkins and freshman Halen Witcher was sixth in 41.98 seconds.

In the women's long jump, sophomore Marlecia Holston finished fourth (16-feet-4½), while freshman Abigail Shafer was eighth (16-feet-0½).

The Eagle men's and women's outdoor track and field teams return to action on Friday (March 27) and Saturday (March 28) at both the Wooster Invitational and the Raleigh (N.C.) Relays.
