Nationals-Worthy Efforts Highlight Raleigh Relays Day 1

Senior Drew Windle continues his collegiate farewell tour with yet another individual title, as the first full weekend for Ashland University's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams began on Friday (March 27) at both the Raleigh (N.C.) Relays and the Wooster Invitational.

Windle finished first in the men's 1,500-meter run in 3:45.92, almost three seconds ahead of second-place Simon Holden of Wake Forest (3:48.55). Windle's time gives him provisional qualification for the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Nationals (May 21-23 in Allendale, Mich.).

In the 5,000-meter run, junior David Knack turned in a provisional qualifying time of 14:23.86.

Also at Raleigh, senior James Clay Harris finished eighth in the men's discus throw with a top mark of 149-feet-10.

Eagle men's and women's throwers were scheduled to compete on Friday in Wooster, but results weren't available Friday night.

Both AU outdoor track and field teams will return to action in Raleigh and Wooster on Saturday (March 28).
