Track And Field Highlights Abound In Raleigh, Wooster

For the second day in a row, Ashland University senior Drew Windle won an event at the Raleigh (N.C.) Relays, and provisionally qualified for the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Nationals (May 21-23 in Allendale, Mich.) in the process.

On Saturday (March 28), Windle won the men's 800-meter run in 1:49.92. On Friday (March 27), he took the title in the men's 1,500-meter run in 3:45.92.

Also in Raleigh, AU Strength & Conditioning Coach A.G. Kruger obliterated the previous Relays record in the men's hammer throw, finishing with a top mark of 75.86 meters/248-feet-11. Kruger beat the previous Relay mark by 5.38 meters, and topped his own facility record by 2.46 meters.

Eagle senior Zac Ball was third in the hammer in 63.20 meters/207-feet-4.

On Friday at the Wooster Invitational, seniors Kim Habegger (58.02 meters/190-feet-4) and Shatora Lewis (48.83 meters/160-feet-2) finished 1-2 in the women's hammer throw. Habegger's distance is a Division II provisional mark.

In the men's hammer throw, freshman Clayton Jury (55.89 meters/183-feet-4) and junior Jared Whitcomb (52.55 meters/172-feet-5) went 1-2, with Jury's showing a D-II provisional effort.

The Eagle men's and women's outdoor track and field teams' next action will be Friday (April 3) and Saturday (April 4) at the University of Akron and at Mount Union.
