More Improved, New Provisional Marks On Day 2 In Akron

On Friday (April 3) at the Northeast Ohio Quad at The University of Akron, Ashland University's outdoor track and field teams picked up three more provisional efforts and three more improved provisional marks for the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Nationals, May 21-23 in Allendale, Mich.

Four Eagle men's hammer throwers finished in the top six on Friday. Senior Zac Ball won the event and improved his provisional mark (63.90 meters), senior Mack Taylor was third and did the same (60.02 meters), senior Jared Conklin was fifth and earned a provisional standard (59.21 meters) and freshman Clayton Jury was sixth and upped his provisional distance (57.75 meters).

In the women's hammer, senior Jessica Bridenthal (56.75 meters), senior Kim Habegger (55.31 meters) and sophomore Megan Tomei (54.57 meters) finished 5-6-7. Habegger already had earned provisional status, and Bridenthal and Tomei joined those ranks.

Also on Friday, senior Sam Shaffer took third place in the men's javelin throw (56.41 meters).

AU's outdoor track and field teams will be at Mount Union's John Homon Open on Saturday (April 4).
