Senior Jennifer Bjelac and freshman Hannah Bartlome competed in the women's heptathlon on Day 1 of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships on Wednesday (April 29) at Ken Herrick Track at Hillsdale College.
Four heptathlon events were contested on Wednesday – the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meter dash. Among the Eagle highlights were Bjelac finishing second in the shot put (10.44 meters/34-feet-3) and placing third in the 100 hurdles (14.78 seconds), and Bartlome tying for third in the high jump (1.64 meters/5-feet-4½).
The women's heptathlon and men's decathlon will be completed on Thursday (April 30) in Day 2 of the Championships. Thursday's running and field events will begin at 2:30 p.m.
