Four AU Women Improve On Previous Provisional Marks

Four Ashland University women's outdoor track and field athletes improved on previous provisional nationals marks on Saturday (May 9) at the Campbell/Wright Invitational at the University of Akron.

Freshman Irene Skinner improved her provisional time in the women's 400-meter dash for the second time this week, finishing first at Akron in 55.10 seconds. Skinner's season-best time coming into the week was 55.87.

Senior Jennifer Bjelac turned in a top women's long jump effort on Saturday of 6.00 meters, while sophomore Megan Tomei (14.49 meters) and senior Shatora Lewis (14.35 meters) each improved in the women's shot put.

Competing in the men's hammer throw at Grand Valley State on Friday (May 8) and Saturday was AU Strength & Conditioning Coach A.G. Kruger. On Friday, Kruger's top mark was 74.03 meters/242-feet-10. On Saturday, it was 73.67 meters/241-feet-8.

Kruger already had the GVSU stadium record of 76.28 meters, set in 2013.

NCAA Division II national qualifiers will be announced on Tuesday (May 12). Those athletes will compete at the 2015 NCAA Division II Championships on May 21-23 in Allendale, Mich.
