Eagles Pick Up Six New NCAA Provisional Marks At Kent

Ashland University's indoor track and field program continues to pile up NCAA national provisional marks in the early part of the 2015-16 season, picking up six more on Day 1 of the Kent State Golden Flash Gala on Friday (Dec. 11). 

In the women's weight throw, both redshirt freshman Natalie Helenthal (third, 57-feet-9/17.6m) and junior Megan Tomei (fourth, 57-feet-5.5/17.51m) earned provisional entry to 2016 NCAA indoor nationals, March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kan.

The men's weight throw saw both junior Jordan Crayon (third, 66-feet-7/20.29m) and sophomore Clayton Jury (fifth, 60-feet-5/18.41m) earn provisional marks. Junior Bryn Campbell, who already provisionally qualified in the weight, placed fourth at 65-feet-1.5/19.85m).

Senior Meghan Cunningham also earned provisional qualification, placing third in the pole vault at 11-feet-9.75/3.60m, as did sophomore Marie Hammer in the pentathlon with 3,265 points.

Through one full meet and the first day of another indoors, Ashland has one automatic national qualifier and 13 provisional national qualifiers.

The Eagle men and women will compete in Day 2 of the Golden Flash Gala on Saturday (Dec. 12).
