Eagle Throwers Return To Action At Ohio State

Juniors Jordan Crayon and Bryn Campbell made a triumphant return from the Christmas/New Year's break on Friday (Jan. 8) at the Ohio State Buckeye Classic, finishing 1-2 in the men's weight throw. 

Crayon won the event, turning in an NCAA Division II nationals automatic qualifying mark of 21.09 meters. He will compete in the weight at the indoor national championships, March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kan.

Campbell was second in the weight at 20.50 meters, improving on his nationals provisional qualifying distance. 

Sophomore Clayton Jury was sixth (17.54 meters), junior Jason Zahn took seventh (17.51 meters) and senior Jared Whitcomb took eighth with a new provisional mark of 17.37 meters.

In the men's shot put, sophomore Elijah Talk placed fourth (17.14 meters), while Zahn was seventh (16.69 meters). 

On the women's side, redshirt freshman Natalie Helenthal placed third in the weight throw at 17.75 meters, improving upon a previous nationals provisional mark. Junior Megan Tomei was seventh (16.55 meters).

Junior Megan Tomei took fourth in the shot put (14.51 meters) and redshirt freshman Kala Strong was fifth (13.88 meters). Both distances topped previous provisional marks. 

The full Eagle men and women indoor track and field teams will compete on Friday (Jan. 15) at the Northwest Ohio Invitational at Findlay.
