Eagles Earn Two New, Three Improved D-II Provisionals

On Saturday (Feb. 20) at the Kent State Tune-Up, Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track and field teams picked up two new and three improved provisional efforts for the 2016 NCAA Division II indoor national championships, March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kan. 

In the women's long jump, junior Marlecia Holston won the crown and earned a new provisional (5.80 meters/19-feet-0½). Freshman Brandon Sicurella was seventh in the men's shot put (15.96 meters/52-feet-4½), also good for a new provisional mark.

The three improved provisionals were turned in by senior Lauren Ellsworth in the women's 60-meter dash (second, 7.60 seconds), sophomore Elijah Talk in the men's shot put (third, 17.81 meters/58-feet-5¼) and senior Meghan Cunningham in the women's pole vault (fourth, 3.61 meters/11-feet-10). 

Also on Saturday, senior David Knack was second in the men's mile (4:14.54), and junior Jackie Genetin took third in the women's 1,000 (3:01.69).

The AU men and women will turn their attention to the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, Feb. 27-28 at Tiffin University.
