Eight Eagles Earn Indoor All-American Status

Eight Ashland University indoor track and field athletes were announced as All-Americans on Monday (March 14) by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Ashland's four first-teamers are juniors Jordan Crayon and Bryn Campbell in the men's weight throw, sophomore Elijah Talk in the men's shot put and senior Jamie Sindelar in the women's shot put.

Crayon earned a national championship in the weight, turning in a top distance of 21.81 meters/71-feet-6¾, while Campbell took fourth at 20.60 meters/67-feet-7. Talk was fifth in the shot at 17.53 meters/57-feet-6¼.

Sindelar took third in the shot with a top mark of 16.00 meters/52-feet-6.

Ashland's second-teamers include sophomore Clayton Jury (men's weight), senior Lauren Ellsworth (women's 200-meter dash), junior Rebecca Koval (women's high jump) and junior Megan Tomei (women's shot put).

Jury was 11th in the weight (18.69 meters/61-feet-4), Ellsworth finished 12th in the 200 (24.65 seconds), Koval was 11th in the high jump (1.66 meters/5-feet-5¼) and Tomei placed 12th in the shot (13.78 meters/45-feet-2½).

First-teamers are those who finished in the top eight at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kan., while second-teamers are those who finished 9th-12th.
