After winning the award twice indoors during her senior season, Ashland University's Jamie Sindelar is the Week 2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week outdoors.
In the season-opening Adidas Winthrop University Invitational, Sindelar set a meet record in winning the women's shot put with a top effort of 16.10 meters/52-feet-10. Not only did that mark earn her an automatic qualification for the 2016 NCAA Division II outdoor championships, May 26-28 in Bradenton, Fla., but it also is the top D-II mark in the early outdoor season.
Ashland's men's and women's outdoor track teams, ranked No. 3 and 16 in the country, respectively, will compete at the Wooster Invitational on Friday (April 1) and Saturday (April 2).
