Thanks to their showings at the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, both of Ashland University's outdoor track and field teams moved up in the latest set of NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Team Rankings, announced Tuesday (May 10) by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Eagle men moved up two spots to No. 8 in the country, while the AU women climbed seven spots to No. 16. Ashland's men have been ranked in the top 10 five times this spring, and Ashland's women have tied their highest 2016 outdoor rank.
A yet-to-be determined number of athletes will compete at last-chance weekends at Hillsdale and Grand Valley State. The Eagle men and women have three automatic and 28 provisional marks for the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, May 26-28 in Bradenton, Fla.
Selections for nationals will be revealed online by 6 p.m. on May 17.
