Zahn Places Fourth, Earns All-American Status In Discus

2016 NCAA DIVISION II OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS PAGE

It was the second day of the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday (May 27) in Bradenton, Fla., and the Ashland University men took center stage.

The Eagle men's action on Friday started with junior Jason Zahn earning All-American honors by taking fourth place in the discus throw. His top mark of 54.59 meters/179-feet-1 was enough for his second consecutive outdoor discus All-American award (second at nationals in 2015).

Freshman Myles Pringle finished ninth in the high jump with a top mark of 2.09 meters/6-feet-10¼, narrowly missing his first outdoor All-American honor.

Also on Friday, senior Eric Thompkins was 17th in the 200-meter dash preliminaries in 21.56 seconds.

The AU men are tied for second in the team standings with 16 team points. Azusa Pacific is first with 26 points, and Grand Valley State also has 16.

Ashland's men's and women's qualifiers will finish the Championships on Saturday (May 28).
