Ashland University's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams have five more All-Americans following the third and final day of the 2016 NCAA Division II Championships in Bradenton, Fla., on Saturday (May 28).
In the men's 400-meter dash, freshman Myles Pringle took third place for his first All-American honor outdoors and overall. Pringle's time of 46.04 seconds breaks his own school record.
Senior Jamie Sindelar added to her lengthy list of honors in the final event of her storied career. She took fourth place in the women's shot put at 15.66 meters/51-feet-4½ to earn her third outdoors All-American honor in the event.
In the men's shot put, both sophomore Elijah Talk (sixth, 17.41 meters/57-feet-1½) and junior Jason Zahn (eighth, 17.24 meters/56-feet-6¾) came away with All-American laurels. It was Talk's first All-American award outdoors, and Zahn's third (first in the shot put).
Senior Lauren Ellsworth claimed her first All-American honor in her only season as an Eagle, placing seventh in the women's 100 dash in 11.87 seconds.
Also on Saturday, junior Megan Tomei finished 12th in the women's shot put at 14.15 meters/46-feet-5¼, and senior David Knack placed 19th in the men's 5,000 run in 15:13.03.
The AU men finished in a tie for ninth in the team standings with 26 points. The 2016 nationals mark the fifth straight year, and ninth year in the last 10, that the Eagle men have finished in the top 10 in the country outdoors.
Ashland's women finished nationals with seven team points, and ended in a tie for 37th place.
