The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) computers like the chances of a high 2017 nationals finish for Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track and field teams.

In the USTFCCCA's preseason national team computer rankings released on Tuesday (Nov. 29) night, both of AU's indoor track and field teams were ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division II.

For the Eagle men, it is their best national indoor ranking since their fourth-place team finish at 2015 nationals. For the AU women, the preseason ranking is their highest since their third-place 2015 nationals placement.

In the decade of the 2010s, both of the Ashland indoor teams have been ranked in all 62 polls.

National team computer rankings took into account marks achieved during the 2016 indoor season to set the stage for the start of the 2017 season. The higher an athlete's mark ranks on the national leaderboard, the more points are garnered for that athlete's team. The teams with the most points are ranked the highest. During the regular season, only marks achieved during the 2016-17 season will be counted for the rankings.

The AU men and women will begin 2016-17 on Saturday (Dec. 3) at noon at the Tiffin Alumni Open.
