Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track and field teams continue to rack up weekly awards, as senior Megan Tomei and junior Elijah Talk earned Week 4 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's and men's field Athlete of the Week honors, respectively.

Tomei has won the GLIAC women's field Athlete of the Week for the third time in a row. On Friday (Jan. 13) night at Findlay, she earned a new automatic nationals-qualifying effort in the women's weight throw with a winning mark of 20.21 meters/66-feet-3¾. She also finished first in the women's shot put (15.36 meters/50-feet-4¾).

So far in 2016-17, Tomei has the second-best shot put and third-best weight throw in NCAA Division II.

Talk won the men's shot put at Findlay with a top mark of 17.92 meters/58-feet-9½. That mark is the No. 2 distance in Division II this season.

Ashland's sixth-ranked men and women will compete on Saturday (Jan. 21) at the Tiffin Dragon Open.
