No. 1 AU Men, No. 11 Eagle Women Start At Penn State, Findlay

Continuing on the road toward the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, the No. 1-ranked Ashland University men's indoor track and field team and the No. 11-ranked Eagle women competed in Day 1 of both the Findlay Classic and the Penn State National Invitational on Friday (Jan. 27).

At Penn State, the top individual finish came from redshirt freshman Steven Kapes, who took third place in the men's 5,000-meter run (invitational) in 14:56.17. Fifth-place finishes were turned in by sophomore Devin Snowden in the men's long jump (7.02 meters) and sophomore Brandon Wilson in the men's 60 dash (6.87 seconds).

In the men's 60 hurdles, Snowden finished sixth in 8.27 seconds, and in the prelims, freshman Arthur Greenlee IV improved on his previous provisional nationals mark at 8.13 seconds.

At Findlay, freshman Amber Otermat earned a new provisional nationals mark in the women's pole vault by finishing in a tie for third at 3.55 meters/11-feet-7¾.
