Ashland University's indoor track and field teams, ranked No. 1 (men) and No. 11 (women) in NCAA Division II, finished competition at both the Findlay Classic and the Penn State National Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 28).

At Findlay, junior Daniel Roberts recorded the 12th-best NCAA Division II indoor men's weight throw in history, launching a top mark of 22.20 meters/72-feet-10. Of the top 12 marks in D-II history, 10 have been turned in by Eagles.

Three Ashland athletes turned in new provisional marks for 2017 indoor nationals – junior Hannah Bartlome in the women's high jump (second, 1.68 meters/5-feet-6), and sophomore Brandon Sicurella (sixth, 17.97 meters/58-feet-11½) and junior Stephen Pop (seventh, 17.80 meters/58-feet-4¾) in the men's weight throw.

Bartlome became the third Ashland women to provisionally qualify for nationals in the high jump, following freshmen Paula Wollenslegel and Ellie Jindra. Sicurella and Pop now make eight Eagle men who have at least provisionally qualified for nationals in the weight throw.

Improved provisional marks were turned in by senior Jason Zahn in the shot put elite (second, 18.03 meters/59-feet-2) and freshman Alex Hill in the weight throw elite (sixth, 20.36 meters/66-feet-9¾).

Winning their respective events were freshman Nick Zak in the men's weight throw (18.48 meters/60-feet-7¾) and freshman Jaycee Perry in the men's high jump (1.82 meters/5-feet-11½). Taking seconds were sophomore Mackenzie Leigh in the women's weight throw (17.47 metets/57-feet-3¾) and senior Aubrey Jordan in the 1,000-meter run (2:35.43).

Third-place finishes were turned in by seniors Nuri Lee in the women's triple jump (10.31 meters/33-feet-10), Megan Tomei in the women's shot put elite (15.25 meters/50-feet-0½) and women's weight throw elite (19.54 meters/64-feet-1¼) and Elijah Talk in the men's shot put elite (17.73 meters/58-feet-2), as well as the women's 4x4 relay team (4:07.94).
