No. 1 AU Men, No. 14 Eagle Women Stay Put In Rankings

There was no change this week for Ashland University's indoor track and field teams, as the Eagle men remain No. 1 and the AU women stay at No. 14 in the latest U.S. Track & Field And Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings, released on Tuesday (Feb. 7) afternoon.

Ashland's men sit atop the NCAA Division II rankings for the third week in a row and the fourth time this decade. They have landed a spot in the top five in the USTFCCCA rankings for the 47th time since the start of the 2009-10 campaign.

The Eagle men boast seven performances so far in 2016-17 which are in the top five in the country – junior Daniel Roberts (first, 22.20 meters/72-feet-10), senior Jordan Crayon (second, 20.86 meters/68-feet-5¼) and freshman Alex Hill (fifth, 20.36 meters/66-feet-9¾) in the weight throw, sophomore Myles Pringle in the 400-meter dash (first, 46.11 seconds) and high jump (first, 2.17 meters/7-feet-1½), and seniors Jason Zahn (second, 18.03 meters/59-feet-2) and Elijah Talk (third, 17.92 meters/58-feet-9½) in the shot put.

Ashland's women have been no worse than 15th in 58 indoor rankings since the start of 2009-10. Senior Megan Tomei is ranked No. 2 in the country in the shot put (15.91 meters/52-feet-2½) and No. 4 in the weight throw (20.21 meters/66-feet-3¾).

The Eagle men and women will split up and go to the Grand Valley State Big Meet on Friday (Feb. 10) and the Tiffin Open on Saturday (Feb. 11).
