Ashland Men No. 1, Women No. 15 In D-II After GLIAC Meet

In the final pre-nationals announcement rankings by the U.S. Track & Field And Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), released on Tuesday (Feb. 28), Ashland University's men's indoor team continues to be ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II, while the Eagle women jumped up six spots to No. 15.

For the sixth week in a row, AU's men lead the country, and in the latest rankings, are almost 26 full computer points ahead of No. 2 Adams State. This is the seventh time Ashland's men have been the No. 1 indoor team in the country this decade. They are in the top five in the country for the 50th time since the start of the 2009-10 season.

Through Feb. 26, the following Eagle men's individuals and relays are in the top five in D-II:

- 1stMyles Pringle, sophomore, 400-meter run (46.11 seconds)

- 1stDaniel Roberts, junior, weight throw (22.20 meters/72-feet-10)

- 2ndAlex Hill, freshman, weight throw (21.00 meters/68-feet-10¾)

- 2nd – Pringle, high jump (2.17 meters/7-feet-1½)

- 3rdElijah Talk, junior, shot put (18.15 meters/59-feet-6¾)

- 3rdJordan Crayon, senior, weight throw (20.86 meters/68-feet-5¼)

- 4th – 4x400 relay - Columbus Millet, senior; Devin Snowden, sophomore; Paul Murray, freshman; Pringle (3:12.59)

- 5thJason Zahn, senior, shot put (18.03 meters/59-feet-2)

- 5thBryn Campbell, senior, weight throw (20.68 meters/67-feet-10¼)

The Eagle women have been no worse than 15th in 60 indoor rankings since the start of 2009-10. Senior Megan Tomei is ranked No. 2 in the country in the shot put (15.91 meters/52-feet-2½) and No. 4 in the weight throw (20.21 meters/66-feet-3¾).

Ashland's men and women will find out who qualifies for the 2017 NCAA Division II Championships, March 9-11 in Birmingham, Ala., in a press release on NCAA.com on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
