The banner year for Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track and field teams continued on Tuesday (March 7) with the announcement of three top regional awards.

Sophomore Myles Pringle, senior Megan Tomei and head coach Jud Logan all have earned Midwest Region awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The USTFCCCA's annual regional awards for NCAA Division II were announced on Tuesday, with the Eagle trio earning top honors in their respective categories.

Pringle is the Midwest's Men's Track Athlete of the Year. Going into NCAA nationals this week, Pringle is ranked first in the country in the 400-meter dash (46.11 seconds), also the fourth-best time in D-II history, and is part of the fourth-ranked 4x400 relay team (3:12.59). In addition, he has the second-best high jump in the country at 2.17 meters/7-feet-1½.

Tomei earned the Midwest's Women's Field Athlete of the Year. Through the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, Tomei is second in the nation in the shot put (15.91 meters/52-feet-2½) and fourth in the weight throw (20.21 meters/66-feet-3¾). She will go into nationals as the No. 1 seed in the shot.

Logan was named the region's Men's Coach of the Year after guiding the Eagle men to a No. 1 ranking for seven regular-season weeks in a row. Four of his weight throwers and two of his shot putters are in the top five in Division II on the men's side going into nationals.

A total of 19 Eagles – in 14 individual events and two relays – will compete at the 2017 NCAA Division II Championships, Thursday-Saturday (March 9-11), in Birmingham, Ala.
