Pringle Wins 400 Gold, Men Place Second at Nationals

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ashland University men's track and field team was crowned NCAA Division II National Championship runner-up on Saturday (March 11). 

The second-place finish for the Eagles was the team's best since 2013. AU scored 52 points, 11 less than first-place Tiffin and six more than third-place St. Augustine.

Sophomore Myles Pringle's national title effort in the 400-meter dash topped off an impressive weekend for the Eagles. He completed the race in 46.39 seconds. 

About a half-hour later, Pringle placed third in the 200 dash in an Ashland University-record 21.28 seconds. 

Also scoring points for the Eagles on the track was senior Nick Hall, who recorded a fifth-place finish in the mile, earning his second 2017 All-American honor with a time of 4:08.32. 

Junior Elijah Talk rounded out the weekend of All-American efforts for the Eagles with a second-place throw of 18.57 meters in the shot put.

Junior Daniel Roberts and senior Jason Zahn competed in the shot put, as well. Roberts earned 14th at 16.25 meters, and Zahn fouled on all three of his throws. 

For the Eagle women, senior Megan Tomei came in 13th in the shot put at 13.97 meters, and freshman Paula Wollenslegel competed in the high jump, but she did not record a height.

UP NEXT: The Ashland University outdoor track and field season begins March 24 at the Raleigh Relays and Weems Baskin Invitational in Raleigh, N.C. and Columbia, S.C., respectively.
