Judging by the results of the two days of the first outdoor meet of the 2017 for Ashland University's men's track team, one would think it was May, not March.

After turning in an automatic and five provisional marks for 2017 outdoor nationals on Friday (March 24), the Eagle men's throwers earned five more provisional distances on Saturday at the Weems Baskin Invitational on Saturday (March 25).

In the men's discus throw, junior Daniel Roberts (first, 53.81 meters) and senior Jason Zahn (second, 52.00 meters) each provisionally qualified for outdoor nationals, May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla.

Three Eagle shot putters – junior Elijah Talk (fourth, 18.31 meters), Zahn (sixth, 16.41 meters) and junior Zachary Smelcer (eighth, 16.22 meters) – did the same.

Talk also finished second in the men's discus B at 45.30 meters.

UP NEXT: Saturday, April 1 at the Miami (Ohio) Duals.
