Ashland University sophomore Myles Pringle and junior Daniel Roberts have begun the 2017 outdoor season as the first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively.

On Friday (March 24) at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., Pringle set a new school record in the men's 400-meter dash by winning in 45.99 seconds. That also is the top mark so far in NCAA Division II, and automatically qualified Pringle for 2017 NCAA Division II outdoor nationals, May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla.

Also on Friday at the Weems Baskin Invitational in Columbia, S.C., Roberts finished second in the men's hammer throw in 67.79 meters, automatically qualifying him for nationals in that event and making him the ninth-best hammer thrower in D-II history. On Saturday (March 25), he won the men's discus throw with a top mark of 53.81 meters – a provisional nationals distance. Roberts ranks first in D-II in the hammer and third in the discus.

Ashland's men and women will compete on Saturday (April 1) at the Miami (Ohio) Duals.
