The early-season nationals marks continued to pile up for Ashland University's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams on Saturday (April 1) at the Miami (Ohio) Duals.
Eagles racked up a new automatic, four new provisionals and three improved provisionals for 2017 NCAA Division II nationals, May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla., on Saturday.
The new automatic mark was earned by senior Jordan Crayon, who won the men's hammer throw at 67.09 meters. Junior Daniel Roberts was second at 66.15 meters, and senior Bryn Campbell was third with an improved provisional distance of 63.91 meters.
The two other improved provisionals were turned in by senior Jason Zahn with a winning mark in the men's discus throw of 54.10 meters and a sixth-place finish in the men's shot put at 16.74 meters.
Winning their respective events and earning new provisional entries were sophomore Myles Pringle in the men's 200-meter dash (21.30 seconds), sophomore Devin Snowden in the men's 400 hurdles (53.31) and the men's 4x100 relay team (41.06).
Freshman Amber Otermat took second in the women's pole vault with a new provisional distance of 3.65 meters.
Turning in winning efforts on Saturday were sophomore Samantha Duale in the women's 100 dash (12.17), junior Elijah Talk in the men's shot put (18.00 meters), Pringle in the men's high jump (1.95 meters), freshman Dylan Kipp in the men's javelin throw (55.70 meters) and senior Rebecca Koval in the women's high jump (1.65 meters).
Sophomore Jacob Sprague took second in the men's pole vault (4.40 meters), the men's 4x400 relay team also was second (3:17.20), freshman Arthur Greenlee IV was the runner-up in the men's 110 hurdles (14.60 seconds) and sophomore Brandon Wilson was second in the men's 100 dash (11.04 seconds).
Taking thirds were senior Jackie Genetin in the women's 800 run (2:18.11) and Roberts in the men's discus throw (52.78 meters).
On Friday (March 31) at the Wooster Invitational, sophomore Brandon Sicurella was third in the men's hammer throw (47.70 meters/156-feet-6), while senior Zach Humrichouser took third in the men's 5,000 run (15:26.02).
UP NEXT: Friday and Saturday (April 7-8) at the John Homon Open at Mount Union.
