Ashland Men, Women Compete At Mount Union

The No. 2-ranked Ashland University men's outdoor track and field team and the Eagle women competed on Saturday (April 8) at the John Homon Open at Mount Union.

Saturday's action featured three new provisional efforts and one improved provisional mark for 2017 NCAA Division II outdoor nationals, May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla.

In the women's high jump, senior Rebecca Koval won with a top mark of 1.71 meters/5-feet-7¼, good for a new provisional. The men's discus throw saw both freshman Alex Hill (third, 51.46 meters/168-feet-9¾) and sophomore Jim Toth (fourth, 49.99 meters/164-feet-0) earn new provisional distances.

Sophomore Stephen Pop improved upon his previous provisional mark in the men's hammer throw, winning the event at 57.60 meters/188-feet-11½.

Winning their respective events on Saturday were senior Linda Morales in the women's 10,000-meter run (40:15.69), junior Tyler Lance in the men's 10,000 run (32:22.75), the men's 4x1 relay (41.85 seconds), freshman Arthur Greenlee IV in the men's 110 hurdles (14.58 seconds), sophomore Brandon Wilson in the men's 100 dash (10.78 seconds), junior Hunter Heaton in the men's 800 run (1:53.11) and the men's 4x4 relay (3:21.36).

Placing second were Hill in the men's hammer throw (56.54 meters/185-feet-5¾), sophomore Tyler Sievert in the men's 1,500 run (4:05.43) and senior Nick Hall in the men's 800 run (1:54.56).

Taking thirds were sophomore Devin Snowden in the men's long jump (6.77 meters/22-feet-2½) and men's 400 hurdles (55.19 seconds), senior Brandon Freeman in the men's 100 dash (11.03 seconds) and men's 200 dash (22.24 seconds) and freshman Dylan Kipp in the men's javelin throw (55.16 meters/180-feet-11½).
