Rain may have put a damper on the 2017 Ashland Alumni Open, but there are a couple awards to come out of the soggy track and field meet.

On Monday (May 1), Ashland University senior Jordan Crayon (Men's Field Athlete of the Week) and the men's 4x100-meter relay team of sophomores Brandon Wilson and Devin Snowden, senior Brandon Freeman and sophomore Myles Pringle (Men's Track Athletes of the Week) all earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Week 6 honors.

Crayon won the Open men's hammer throw invite section with a top heave of 69.87 meters/229-feet-3, now ranking him No. 1 in NCAA Division II in the event this season and making him the No. 6 men's hammer thrower in D-II history.

The men's 4x1 relay team won its event at the Open in 40.65 seconds, putting it 11th in the country.

Earlier in the 2017 outdoor season, Ashland's Pringle (Men's Track Athlete of the Week) and junior Daniel Roberts (Men's Field Athlete of the Week) won their honors in Week 1.

The Ashland men and women will compete in the 2017 GLIAC Outdoor Track And Field Championships on Wednesday-Friday (May 3-5) at Grand Valley State.
