On the heels of landing the Week 6 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week award on Monday (May 1), Ashland University senior Jordan Crayon has earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Men's National Athlete of the Week laurels on Tuesday (May 2) morning.

On Friday (April 28), Crayon won the Ashland Alumni Open men's hammer throw invite section with a top heave of 69.87 meters/229-feet-3, a career best. Crayon ranks No. 1 in Division II in the event this season, and that mark makes him the No. 6 men's hammer thrower in D-II history.

Crayon is the first Eagle thrower to earn USTFCCCA D-II Men's National Athlete of the Week honors outdoors since Garrett Grey on April 8, 2013.

The Ashland men and women will compete in the 2017 GLIAC Outdoor Track And Field Championships on Wednesday-Friday (May 3-5) at Grand Valley State.
