A week earlier, Ashland University's men's outdoor track and field team moved into the No. 1 spot in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings.

On Tuesday (May 9) afternoon, the Eagle men maintained that top spot following their title at the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

Ashland has 167.88 computer points, edging No. 2-ranked Chico State (163.80). Lincoln, Mo., moved into the No. 3 spot (155.75). This is the fifth time Ashland's men have been the top-ranked D-II team outdoors this decade.

The Eagle men have compiled four automatic and 22 provisional marks for 2017 nationals, May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla. The AU men and women will take part in last-chance weekend meets on Friday (May 12) and Saturday (May 13), and the selections for D-II nationals will be announced on May 16 on NCAA.com.
