Eagle Men Remain No. 1 in D-II, Region Awards Revealed

Following its efforts at last-chance-weekend meets, Ashland University's men's outdoor track and field team remains the No. 1-ranked team in NCAA Division II for a third week in a row.

In the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings, released on Tuesday (May 16) afternoon, the Eagles have 165.05 computer points, pacing No. 2 Chico State (152.69) and No. 3 Lincoln, Mo. (151.52).

This is the sixth time Ashland's men have been the top-ranked D-II team outdoors this decade.

The official announcement of the contingent of Ashland men and women who will compete at the 2017 NCAA Division II Championships, May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla., will be made later on Tuesday on NCAA.com.

Also on Tuesday, the USTFCCCA revealed its All-Region honorees for the 2016-17 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season. Fifteen Eagle men and five AU women earned honors. The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions' top three relay teams.

Leading the way for Ashland was sophomore Myles Pringle, who tied for a D-II-high five regional awards in the 200-meter dash, 400 dash, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay and the high jump. Both sophomores Devin Snowden (4x100 relay, 4x400 relay) and Samantha Duale (100 dash, 200 dash) earned two regional honors each.

Ashland men who picked up one regional award each were senior Bryn Campbell (hammer throw), senior Jordan Crayon (hammer throw), senior Brandon Freeman (4x100 relay), freshman Arthur Greenlee IV (110 hurdles), senior Hunter Heaton (800 run), freshman Steven Kapes (10,000 run), freshman Dylan Kipp (javelin throw), senior Columbus Millet (4x400 relay), freshman Paul Murray (4x400 relay), junior Daniel Roberts (hammer throw), junior Elijah Talk (shot put), sophomore Brandon Wilson (4x100 relay) and senior Jason Zahn (discus).

Eagle women earning regional laurels were junior Hannah Bartlome (high jump), sophomore Natalie Helenthal (hammer throw), senior Rebecca Koval (high jump) and freshman Paula Wollenslegel (high jump).
