Ashland University head track and field coach Jud Logan and assistant coach Ernie Clark each earned regional coach of the year honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday (May 23) afternoon.

Logan was named Midwest Region Men's Track And Field Coach of the Year. The Eagle men will have 15 athletes at 2017 NCAA Division II Championships, Thursday-Saturday (May 25-27) at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., and have been in the No. 1-ranked team in the country for the last four USTFCCCA rankings.

For the first time in program history, Ashland will have the top three men's hammer throwers in the country going into outdoor nationals – senior Jordan Crayon (69.87 meters/229-feet-3), junior Daniel Roberts (68.95 meters/226-feet-2) and senior Bryn Campbell (65.38 meters/214-feet-6).

Clark earned Midwest Region Men's Track And Field Assistant Coach of the Year honors. Ashland's sprints and hurdles coach, Clark guided three of his pupils to spots at outdoor nationals, including having the nation's top men's 400-meter dash mark in sophomore Myles Pringle.

His sprinters and hurdlers scored 63 points as the Eagle men won the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship.

Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches.
