On Thursday (June 22) at the USA Track & Field 2017 Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif., former Ashland University thrower and new assistant throws coach/assistant director of track and field operations Jordan Crayon placed eighth in the men's hammer throw.

Crayon finished with a top heave of 67.05 meters/219-feet-11, which came on the third attempt, and which allowed him to qualify for Thursday's finals.

Crayon, a four-time All-American for the Eagles and an NCAA Division II national champion as a junior indoors in the men's weight throw, recently launched his first 70-plus-meter hammer throw (70.71 meters/231-feet-11 3/4) at the 2017 Ashland Summer Series.
