Two days before the 2017-18 indoor track and field season begins, the 2017-18 indoor track and field ranking season began.

On Thursday (Nov. 30) afternoon, in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2018 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field National Preseason Rankings, Ashland University's men's team is ranked No. 3, and the Eagle women are at No. 25.

Ashland's men, who ended the 2017 indoor campaign by finishing second at nationals, were the No. 1-ranked D-II men's indoor team in all seven regular-season polls a season ago. Since 2010, the Eagle men have been in the top three of the poll 37 times.

The Eagle women are in the indoor top 25 poll for the 63rd time since the start of 2010.

The first USTFCCCA regular-season rankings will be revealed on Jan. 23. Past collegiate data is used to determine national preseason rankings in NCAA Division II. Subsequent rankings use only season-best, qualifying-list information from the 2018 season.

Ashland's men and women start the new season on Saturday (Dec. 2) at the Tiffin Alumni Open.
