Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track and field teams nearly pulled a clean sweep of the 2017-18 Week 2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference awards.

As announced on Monday (Dec. 11) afternoon, for the second week in a row, junior Natalie Helenthal is the GLIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week, while junior Myles Pringle (track) and senior Elijah Talk (field) swept the men's weekly honors.

On Friday (Dec. 8) at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala, Helenthal finished second in the women's weight throw at 19.59 meters/64-feet-3¼. That mark was a new personal record, moved Helenthal to the No. 2 spot in NCAA Division II and improved upon her previous provisional mark for 2018 indoor nationals, March 9-10 at Pittsburg State.

On Saturday (Dec. 9) at Kent, Pringle earned his second automatic mark for indoor nationals, finishing first in the men's 400-meter dash in 47.00 seconds. Pringle also earned a provisional nationals mark as part of the 4x400 relay team (first place, 3:15.71). He leads the country in both the 400 dash and the high jump (2.15 meters/7-feet-0½), and the 4x4 relay team is ranked No. 8 in the nation.

Also on Saturday at Kent, Talk finished second in the men's shot put at 17.64 meters/57-feet-10½. In his first action of the season, Talk moved into fourth place in the country with his provisional nationals effort.
