Ashland University's nationally-ranked men's (No. 3) and women's (No. 14) indoor track and field teams competed on Friday (Jan. 26) in Day 1 of both the Findlay Indoor Track & Field Classic & Elite Throws and Penn Nationals.

At State College, a youth-dominated men's 60-meter hurdles finals saw both freshman Trevor Bassitt and sophomore Arthur Greenlee IV take part. Bassitt finished fourth in 8.20 seconds, while Greenlee IV was right behind in fifth in 8.26 seconds. To get to the finals, Bassitt ran the preliminaries in 8.18 seconds, Greenlee IV in 8.32 seconds.

Bassitt and Greenlee IV, both of whom previously compiled provisional times for 2018 NCAA Division II indoor nationals, March 9-10 at Pittsburg State, were two of five finals competitors who were sophomores or freshmen.

At Findlay, sophomore Paula Wollenslegel placed second in the women's pentathlon with 3,143 points.

Day 2 at both Findlay and Penn State will be Saturday (Jan. 27).
