Ashland University's No. 3-ranked men's indoor track and field team has swept the latest Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference weekly awards.

As released by the GLIAC on Tuesday (Jan. 30) morning, sophomore Alex Hill has landed his second consecutive GLIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor, while the 4x400-meter relay team of freshmen Channing Phillips and Brenden Archer, sophomore Paul Murray and junior Myles Pringle combined to win the GLIAC Mens Track Athlete of the Week designation.

Hill was third in the men's weight throw at the Findlay Classic & Elite Throws Competition, moving into the top spot in NCAA Division II in the event this season with a top mark of 21.42 meters/70-feet-3½. That distance earned Hill automatic entry into 2018 NCAA Division II indoor nationals, March 9-10 at Pittsburg State.

Phillips, Archer, Murray and Pringle won at Penn Nationals with a time of 3:13.13 – a time which moves them into the No. 2 spot in the country. The quartet is less than a second away from an automatic nationals qualification (3:12.36).

Ashland's men and women will compete at the Akron Blue/Gold meet on Friday (Feb. 2) and Saturday (Feb. 3).
