Eagle Men Maintain No. 3 Spot In USTFCCCA Rankings

It's steady as they go for Ashland University's men's indoor track and field team.

In the second regular-season U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II rankings released on Tuesday (Jan. 30) afternoon, the Eagle men continue as the No. 3 team in the country. Ashland's men also were No. 3 in the preseason rankings.

Ashland has 130.93 computer points, trailing only No. 1 Colorado Mines (232.76) and No. 2 Tiffin (151.74).

Through Monday (Jan. 29), the Eagle men have nine marks which would qualify for 2018 D-II indoor nationals, March 9-10 at Pittsburg State. Both junior Myles Pringle (46.42 seconds in the 400-meter dash) and sophomore Alex Hill (21.42 meters/70-feet-3½ in the weight throw) are the top-ranked athletes in their respective events, while Pringle is No. 2 in the nation in the 200 dash (21.46 seconds), the high jump (2.15 meters/7-feet-0½) and as part of the 4x400 relay team, along with freshmen Channing Phillips and Brenden Archer and sophomore Paul Murray.

Indoors since 2010, Ashland's men have been ranked in the top three on 41 occasions.

Ashland's men and women will compete at the Akron Blue/Gold meet on Friday (Feb. 2) and Saturday (Feb. 3).
