If there is a time to be dominant, it is at a national level.

Former Ashland University national champions Katie Nageotte and Drew Windle showed their talents at the 2018 USATF Indoor Championships on Sunday (Feb. 18) in Albuquerque, N.M., and as a result, both will be on Team USA for the IAAF World Indoor Championships, March 1-4 in Birmingham, Great Britain.

Nageotte not only won a national title in the women's pole vault, but she did so by shattering her personal-best mark. On Sunday, she cleared 4.91 meters/16-feet-1¼ - six inches better than her previous career-best of 4.76 meters/15-feet-7¼. Nageotte also didn't miss a vault until she attempted to go to 5.04 meters/16-feet-6½ after winning the event.

Nageotte's vault leads the world so far during the 2017-18 indoor season.

As an Eagle, Nageotte won two NCAA Division II national championships in the pole vault in 2013 – one indoors and one outdoors. She was a three-time All-American at Ashland after transferring from Division I Dayton.

Windle finished second in the men's 800-meter run on Sunday, crossing the finish line in 1:46.29. He pulled off his patented come-from-behind race, as he was sixth and last in the field going into the final 200 meters.

Windle placed himself throughout the Ashland track and field record book, winning eight NCAA Division II national championships – six combined indoors and outdoors in the 800 run, one indoors in the 4x400 relay and one indoors in the distance medley relay.

He is a 15-time All-American, and still claims school records in the indoor 800 run (1:46.52), as part of the indoor 4x400 relay (3:09.38) and the indoor DMR (9:49.14) and the outdoor 800 run (1:46.91).

Windle was the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)'s men's indoor track and field athlete of the year in both 2013 and 2014, the USTFCCCA's Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year in 2013-14, and was the Ashland male 2014-15 Student-Athlete of the Year.
