Ashland University's men's indoor track and field team is a top-five nationals squad heading into the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

In the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II rankings, released on Tuesday (Feb. 20) afternoon, the Eagle men moved up one spot to No. 5. This is the fifth time AU's men have been in the top five this season, following three straight rankings at No. 3 to start 2017-18, and a No. 4 slot in Week 3 of the regular season.

Since the start of the 2009-10 campaign, Ashland's men have been ranked in the top five by the USTFCCCA 56 times.

The Eagle men have 10 performances that would qualify for the 2018 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, March 9-10 in Pittsburg, Kan. Junior Myles Pringle (400-meter dash, 46.42 seconds; high jump, 2.18 meters/7-feet-1¾) and sophomore Alex Hill (weight throw, 22.10 meters/72-feet-6¼) are the top-ranked men in D-II in their respective events.

Ashland's men and women will compete on Saturday (Feb. 24) and Sunday (Feb. 25) at the 2018 GLIAC Championships at Grand Valley State.
