Three Nationals Marks Recorded On Cold Day In Akron

On the second day of a cold and revamped Northeast Ohio Quad on Saturday (April 7) at Akron, Ashland University's women's and men's outdoor track and field teams put together three nationals marks for 2018 NCAA Division II outdoor nationals, May 24-26 in Charlotte, N.C.

Two new provisional nationals distances were earned in the women's high jump, where senior Hannah Bartlome and sophomore Ellie Jindra each finished tied for second place at a top effort of 1.67 meters/5-feet-5¾.

Sophomore Alex Hill improved upon his previous provisional throw in the men's discus, finishing second at 52.54 meters/172-feet-4.

Eagles earning first-place finishes were junior Tyler Sievert in the men's 800-meter run (1:56.01), and the men's 4x400 relay team of sophomore Paul Murray and freshmen T.J. Elliott, Channing Phillips and Trevor Bassitt (3:18.66).

Bassitt was the runner-up in both the men's 110 hurdles (14.29 seconds) and 300 hurdles (38.57 seconds), while Phillips took thirds in the men's 100 dash (10.94 seconds) and 150 dash (16.31 seconds).

Sophomore Dylan Kipp took third in the men's javelin throw (54.08 meters/177-feet-5).

This year's Quad was a mix of outdoor and indoor events due to weather conditions.

Later on Saturday, sophomore Myles Pringle will compete in the men's 400 dash at the Arizona State Sun Angel Classic at 10:06 p.m. Eastern.

Ashland's men (No. 21) and women (No. 23) both were nationally-ranked coming into the Quad.
