Three Eagle Throwers Improve Provisionals At OSU

Three Ashland University hammer throwers earned improved national provisional marks on Friday (April 20) at the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State University.

In the men's hammer throw championship division, sophomore Nick Zak took sixth, but had a top heave of 61.25 meters/200-feet-11 – an improved provisional mark by 2.74 meters.

The women's hammer throw championship division saw both junior Mackenzie Leigh (third, 58.60 meters/192-feet-3) and senior Megan Tomei (fourth, 57.75 meters/189-feet-5) improve their national standing.

In the men's hammer throw open division, freshman Brent Fairbanks took second with a top mark of 58.69 meters/192-feet-6.

UP NEXT: A split Saturday (April 21) – at both OSU and the Sparky Adams Invitational at Baldwin Wallace.
