Clark Garners USTFCCCA Award For Second Straight Year

For the second consecutive season, Ashland University assistant coach Ernie Clark is the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's Midwest Region Outdoor Assistant Coach of the Year.

This spring, Clark mentored junior Myles Pringle, freshman Trevor Bassitt, and the 4x400-meter relay team of Pringle, Bassitt and freshmen T.J. Elliott and Channing Phillips to spots at the 2018 NCAA Division II Championships, Thursday-Saturday (May 24-26) in Charlotte, N.C. Pringle is the top-ranked men's 400 dash runner in Division II.

Clark's athletes combined for 57 points at the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, contested at home at the Dwight Schar Athletic Complex.

Since 2009, only two men have won the Men's Outdoor Midwest Region honor in consecutive seasons – former Ashland assistant Dave Smalley (2013-14) and Grand Valley State's Joe Lynn (2010-11).
