Sophomore throwers Alex Hill and Nick Zak have landed spots on the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Track/Cross Country Team in NCAA Division II, District 4, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
During 2017-18, Hill became the third-best men's weight thrower in NCAA Division II history with his toss of 22.49 meters/73-feet-9½ at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. He won GLIAC titles indoors in the weight throw and outdoors in the discus, and was a three-time All-American – second in the weight throw indoors, and third in the hammer throw and fourth in the discus throw outdoors.
Hill, an Exercise Science major, sports a cumulative grade-point average of 3.33 through the spring 2018 semester.
As a sophomore, Zak won a conference championship in the hammer throw outdoors, and earned an outdoor All-American citation with a fourth-place finish in the hammer at nationals.
Zak, a Criminal Justice major, has a cumulative GPA of 3.48 through the spring 2018 semester.
Hill and Zak advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced on June 20.
