The stages get bigger for Ashland University soon-to-be senior Myles Pringle – but the consistency remains.

On Day 2 of the 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships on Friday (June 22), Pringle ran the Drake University track in the semifinals of the men's 400-meter dash, qualifying for Saturday (June 23) night's finals with a third-place finish in the first heat in 45.38 seconds.

The top four runners in each of two heats qualified for Saturday's finals, to be run at 5:30 p.m. Pringle's time was just 3/100ths of a second slower than his PR of 45.35 seconds at the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.

In his first three years as an Eagle, Pringle is a five-time NCAA Division II national champion (four in the 400 dash, one in the 4x4 relay), and a 14-time D-II All-American. He is the fastest indoor men's 400 dash runner in D-II history (45.93 seconds).

Also on Friday in the men's hammer throw, former Eagle Daniel Roberts took fourth place with a lifetime-best heave of 73.06 meters/239-feet-8. That mark was more than a full meter better than his 71.91-meter PR set at the Ashland Summer Series earlier in June.

Roberts won an NCAA Division II national championship in 2017 in the outdoor hammer throw, and was a three-time D-II All-American at AU.

Also in the men's hammer, another former AU standout, Jordan Crayon, finished ninth with a top mark of 69.76 meters/228-feet-10. Crayon won a D-II national title in 2016 in the indoor weight throw, and was a four-time D-II All-American.

Pringle will compete in the men's 400 finals on Saturday, then on Sunday (June 24) at 2:55 p.m., former Eagle standout Katie Nageotte will compete in the women's pole vault.
